Lasix (furosemide)

Lasix (furosemide) is an anthranilic acid derivative that is used as a strong diuretic in adults and children to treat excessive fluid accumulation (edema) caused by congestive heart failure, liver failure, renal failure, and nephritic syndrome. Lasix may be used with antihypertensive drugs to control high blood pressure (hypertension). Lasix is available as a generic.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• upper stomach pain,
• loss of appetite,
• dark urine,
• vomiting,
• easy bruising,
• unusual bleeding,
• pale skin,
• lightheadedness,
• yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
• fluttering in your chest,
• dry mouth,

• fruity breath odor,
• swelling in your feet or ankles,
• feeling tired,
• drowsiness,
• irregular heartbeats,
• ringing in your ears,
• feeling unsteady,
• numbness or tingling,

• muscle spasms or contractions,
