Furoxone (furazolidone) is a synthetic antimicrobial nitrofuran used in the specific and symptomatic treatment of bacterial or protozoal diarrhea and enteritis caused by susceptible organisms. The brand name Furoxone is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• stomach upset,
• lowered blood pressure,
• malaise.
