Folvite (folic acid)

Folvite (folic acid) is a synthetic form of folate, a B vitamin, used to treat or prevent low folate levels, which can lead to certain types of anemia or birth defects. Conditions that can cause low folate levels include poor diet, pregnancy, alcoholism, liver disease, certain stomach/intestinal problems, or kidney dialysis. The brand name drug Folvite is no longer available in the U.S. Generic versions may still be available.
The drug is often used to treat Liver disease .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- itching,
- rash,
- trouble breathing
- dizziness, and
- swelling (especially of the face, tongue, or throat),
