Flagyl ER (metronidazole extended release tablets)
type of Nitroimidazoles
Flagyl, Flagyl ER, and Flagyl Injection (metronidazole) are all almost identical antimicrobial drugs used to treat bacterial vaginosis (mainly Flagyl ER), trichomonas, amebiasis, and anaerobic bacterial infections. Flagyl ER is available as a generic.
The drug is often used to treat Bacterial vaginosis .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- nausea,
- dark urine,
- clay-colored stools, and
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
- diarrhea,
- fever,
- lightheadedness,
- dizziness,
- vision problems,
- headache,
- weakness,
- trouble swallowing,
- stomach pain (upper right side),
- muscle weakness,
- painful or difficult urination,
- seizures,
- trouble sleeping,
- depression,
- irritability,
- red or swollen gums,
- neck stiffness,
- increased sensitivity to light,
- pain behind your eyes,
- blisters or ulcers in your mouth,
- problems with coordination,
- numbness, tingling or burning pain in your hands or feet,
- seeing flashes of light,
- trouble speaking or understanding what is said to you,
