Firvanq (vancomycin hydrochloride for oral solution)

Firvanq (vancomycin hydrochloride) is a glycopeptide antibacterial indicated in adults and pediatric patients less than 18 years of age for the treatment of: Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, and enterocolitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant strains).

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • diarrhea,
  • fever,
  • headache
  • fatigue,
  • abdominal pain,
  • low blood potassium (hypokalemia),
  • gas,
  • swelling of extremities,
  • back pain, and
  • urinary tract infections (UTIs),
The following drugs are related to Firvanq, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Rebyota (fecal microbiota rectal, live - jslm suspension, for rectal use)
  • Vowst (fecal microbiota spores, live-brpk capsules)
  • Vancocin (vancocin)
