Fexinidazole (fexinidazole tablets)

Fexinidazole is a nitroimidazole antimicrobial, indicated for the treatment of both first-stage (hemolymphatic) and second-stage (meningoencephalitic) human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) due to Trypanosoma brucei gambiense in patients 6 years of age and older and weighing at least 20 kg.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- chest pain,
- headache,
- blurred vision,
- weakness,
- cough,
- sore throat,
- loss of appetite,
- nervousness,
- fever,
- shaking,
- chills,
- pale skin,
- restlessness,
- dry mouth,
- tiredness,
- depression,
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- easy bruising,
- confusion,
- anxiety,
- irritability,
- unusual bleeding,
- severe dizziness,
- thoughts of self-harm,
- painful or difficult urination,
- black or tarry stools,
- lower back pain or side pain,
- mental or mood changes,
- muscle cramps or spasms,
- numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet,
- shakiness in the arms, legs, hands, or feet,
- stomach pain or cramps,
- swelling of the feet or lower legs,
- trembling or shaking of the hands or feet,
- difficulty sleeping,
- white spots in the mouth,
- rapid or shallow breathing,
- fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat,
- pounding in the ears,
- personality changes,
- hallucination,
- difficulty concentrating,
- fainting, and
- nightmares
