Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose injection)

Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose) injection is an iron carbohydrate complex used to treat iron deficiency anemia in adult patients who have intolerance to oral iron or have had unsatisfactory response to oral iron, or who have non-dialysis dependent chronic kidney disease.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• vomiting,
• dizziness,
• low blood pressure (hypotension),
• headache,
• constipation, or
• high blood pressure (hypertension), flushing or hot flashes,
• injection site reactions or skin discoloration,
• changes in the sense of taste,
• a decrease in blood phosphorus levels
