Evomela (melphalan for injection, for intravenous use)

Evomela (melphalan) for injection is an alkylating drug indicated for use as a high-dose conditioning treatment prior to hematopoietic progenitor (stem) cell transplantation in patients with multiple myeloma, and for the palliative treatment of patients with multiple myeloma for whom oral therapy is not appropriate.
The drug is often used to treat Multiple myeloma .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- loss of appetite,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- fever,
- dizziness,
- constipation,
- fatigue,
- abdominal pain,
- indigestion,
- low blood potassium (hypokalemia),
- changes in taste,
- anemia,
- sinus inflammation,
- swelling of the hands or feet,
- mouth or lip sores,
- neutrophil count decreased,
- white blood cell count decreased,
- lymphocyte count decreased,
- platelet count decreased, and
- low blood phosphates.
