Estrostep Fe (norethindrone acetate-ethinyl estradiol-ferrous fumarate)

Estrostep Fe (norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol tablets and ferrous fumarate tablets) contains a combination of female hormones, plus iron, and is used as contraception to prevent pregnancy. Estrostep Fe is also used to treat severe acne. Estrostep Fe is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • vomiting,
  • dizziness,
  • headache,
  • bloating,
  • stomach cramping,
  • increased hair growth,
  • freckles or darkening of facial skin,
  • loss of scalp hair,
  • changes in weight or appetite,
  • decreased sex drive
  • breast tenderness or swelling,
  • nausea (especially when you first start taking Estrostep Fe),
  • vaginal irritation or itching,
  • increased vaginal fluids or discharge,
  • problems with contact lenses, or
