Menostar (estradiol transdermal system)

Menostar (estradiol) Transdermal System is a form of estrogen, a female sex hormone, used to treat certain symptoms of menopause such as dryness, burning, and itching of the vaginal area. Menostar also reduces urgency or irritation of urination. Menostar skin patches are also used to treat ovarian disorders, infertility, and abnormal vaginal bleeding. Some estradiol skin patches are used to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis.
The drug is often used to treat Osteoporosis .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- headache
- nausea
- vomiting
- dizziness
- constipation
- loss of appetite
- depression
- upset stomach
- back pain
- acne
- bloating
- joint pain
- decreased sex drive
- impotence
- weight changes
- vaginal discharge
- changes in your menstrual periods
- nipple discharge
- skin color changes
- difficulty having an orgasm
- swollen or tender breasts
- increased facial hair
- thinning scalp hair
- migraine headaches
- vaginal pain/dryness/discomfort
- swelling of your ankles or feet
- spotting or break-through bleeding
- cold symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing, sinus pain, sore throat), or
- skin redness or irritation at the application site.
