Epogen (epoetin alfa)
type of Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents
Epogen (epoetin alfa) is a man-made form of a protein that helps your body produce red blood cells used to treat anemia (a lack of red blood cells in the body).
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- headache,
- dizziness,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- sleep problems (insomnia),
- joint pain,
- weight loss,
- depression,
- body aches,
- cold symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, cough),
- bone pain,
- muscle pain or spasms,
- trouble swallowing, or
- injection site reactions (pain, tenderness, or irritation).
