Procrit (epoetin alfa)

Procrit (epoetin alfa) is a glycoprotein that stimulates red blood cell production used to treat anemia associated with kidney failure, HIV patients undergoing treatment, cancer patients undergoing therapy, and certain surgical patients.

The drug is often used to treat HIV .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • nausea,
  • fever,
  • pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
  • fluttering in your chest,
  • seizure,
  • blurred vision,
  • pounding in your neck or ears,
  • constipation,
  • dry mouth,
  • wheezing,
  • fainting,
  • sweating,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • unusual tiredness,
  • sore throat,
  • burning eyes,
  • skin pain,
  • red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling,
  • nosebleed,
  • increased thirst,
  • increased urination,
  • fruity breath odor,
  • muscle weakness,
  • irregular heartbeats,
  • sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
  • slurred speech,
  • problems with vision or balance,
  • severe skin reaction,
  • blurred vision, and
  • pounding in your neck or ears
  • anxiety,
  • leg cramps,
  • numbness or tingling,
  • limp feeling,
  • severe dizziness,
  • sudden severe headache,
  • pain, swelling, warmth, redness, cold feeling, or pale appearance of an arm or leg,
  • rapid pulse,
