Pharmorubicin (epirubicin)

type of Antineoplastics, Anthracycline

Pharmorubicin CS (epirubicin hydrochloride) is indicated for the treatment of breast cancer, gastric cancer, ovarian cancer, small cell lung cancer, lymphoma (non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma), advanced/metastatic soft tissue sarcoma, and superficial bladder cancer (Tis; Ta). In bladder cancer, Pharmorubicin is also indicated in the prophylaxis of recurrence after transurethral resection of stage T1 papillary cancers and stage Ta multifocal papillary cancers (Grade 2 and 3).

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • diarrhea,
  • redness, ulcers, and, bleeding of mucus membranes,
  • hair loss (usually reversible),
  • red streaking along the infused vein, and
  • dehydration.
The following drugs are related to Pharmorubicin, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Abraxane (albumin-bound paclitaxel for injectable suspension)
  • Afinitor (everolimus tablets)
  • Arimidex (anastrozole)
  • Aredia (pamidronate disodium)
  • Aromasin (exemestane)
  • Ellence (epirubicin hydrochloride)
  • Enhertu (fam-trastuzumab deruxtecan-nxki for injection)
  • Evista (raloxifene)
  • Soltamox (tamoxifen citrate)
