Fuzeon (enfuvirtide)

type of HIV, Fusion Inhibitors

Fuzeon (enfuvirtide) is a type of antiviral medication called a fusion inhibitor used to treat HIV, which causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), and is usually given after other medications have been tried without successful treatment of HIV. Fuzeon is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

The drug is often used to treat HIV .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• nausea,
• vomiting,
• skin rash,
• chills,
• wheezing,
• fainting,
• severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back,
• blood in your urine,
• cough with yellow or green mucus,
• stabbing chest pain,
• fever with or without vomiting,
• shortness of breath,  
• chest congestion,
• swelling in your feet,
• skin reaction (itching, redness, swelling, pain or a hard lump) where the medicine is injected, and
• pain, warmth, oozing, or redness where an injection was given
