Emtriva (emtricitabine)

Emtriva (emtricitabine) is an antiviral medication used to treat the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Emtriva is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
The drug is often used to treat HIV .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- nausea,
- upper stomach pain,
- loss of appetite,
- dark urine,
- diarrhea,
- fever,
- swollen glands,
- night sweats,
- shortness of breath,
- weight loss,
- tiredness,
- stomach pain,
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
- chest pain,
- dizziness,
- rapid heart rate,
- wheezing,
- weakness,
- mouth sores,
- anxiety,
- irritableness,
- muscle pain,
- dry cough,
- fast or uneven heart rate,
- cold sores,
- trouble speaking or swallowing,
- weakness or prickly feeling,
- swelling in your neck or throat (enlarged thyroid),
- numb or cold feeling in your arms and legs,
- nausea with vomiting,
- swelling around your midsection,
- sores on your genital or anal area,
- problems with your balance or eye movement,
- severe lower back pain,
- loss of bladder or bowel control,
- menstrual changes,
- impotence, and
- loss of interest in sex
