Jardiance (empagliflozin tablets)

Jardiance (empagliflozin) is an inhibitor of the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Jardiance is also indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • fever,
  • pale skin,
  • shortness of breath,
  • confusion,
  • chills,
  • low blood pressure (hypotension),
  • fatigue,
  • sweating,
  • weakness,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • little or no urination,
  • increased thirst,
  • fruity breath odor,
  • irregular heartbeat,
  • anxiety,
  • extreme tiredness,
  • irritability,
  • decreased urination,
  • hunger,
  • frequent urination,
  • convulsions (seizures),
  • shakiness,
  • vaginal discharge, and
  • swelling in legs and ankles,
  • pain in the lower sides of your back,
  • cloudy, dark, bloody or foul-smelling urine,
  • frequent and painful urination,
  • pain or swelling in the genital area,
  • itching and irritation in the genital area,
  • burning sensation during intercourse,
  • vaginal pain and soreness,
  • elevated levels of LDL cholesterol
