Synjardy (empagliflozin and metformin hydrochloride tablets)

Synjardy (empagliflozin and metformin hydrochloride) is a combination of a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor and a biguanide, indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are not adequately controlled on a regimen containing empagliflozin or metformin, or in patients already being treated with both empagliflozin and metformin. Synjardy is not for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- fever,
- confusion,
- rapid breathing,
- dizziness,
- blurred vision,
- dry mouth,
- little or no urination,
- increased urination,
- fruity breath odor,
- flushing,
- drowsiness,
- shaking,
- hunger,
- fainting
- fast heartbeat,
- feeling unwell,
- lightheadedness, and
- pink or bloody urine,
- heavy sweating,
- thirst,
- sudden sweating,
- unusual discharge from the penis,
- burning or painful urination,
- frequent or urgent urination,
- unusual vaginal discharge, burning, itching, or odor,
- redness, itching, swelling of the penis,
- pain, redness, or swelling in or around the genital or anal area,
- tingling hands or feet,
