Promacta (eltrombopag tablets)

Promacta (eltrombopag) is a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist, a man-made form of a protein, used to prevent bleeding episodes in people with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a bleeding condition caused by a lack of platelets in the blood. Promacta is usually given after other medications or surgery have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- nausea,
- upper stomach pain,
- loss of appetite,
- dark urine,
- clay-colored stools, and
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- pale skin,
- lightheadedness,
- shortness of breath,
- cold hands and feet,
- confusion,
- rapid breathing,
- chest pain,
- wheezing,
- unusual tiredness,
- sudden cough,
- severe stomach pain,
- sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
- slurred speech,
- problems with vision or balance,
- vision changes,
- eye pain,
- pain or burning when you urinate,
- tunnel vision,
- seeing halos around lights,
- sudden severe headache,
- cough up blood,
- pain, swelling warmth, or redness in one or both legs,
- flu symptoms (fever, chills, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches, tired feeling),
- increased or frequent need to urinate,
