Sustiva (efavirenz)

Sustiva (efavirenz) is an antiviral medication used to treat HIV, which causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Sustiva is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
The drug is often used to treat HIV .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- nausea,
- loss of appetite,
- dark urine,
- diarrhea,
- fever,
- swollen glands,
- night sweats,
- weight loss,
- confusion,
- stomach pain,
- clay-colored stools,
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
- dizziness,
- seizure,
- wheezing,
- weakness,
- cough,
- sore throat,
- burning eyes,
- skin pain,
- red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling,
- menstrual changes, and
- drowsiness,
- anxiety,
- insomnia,
- hallucinations,
- paranoia,
- difficulty swallowing,
- problems with speech,
- trouble concentrating,
- cold sores,
- problems with balance or eye movement,
- swelling in your neck or throat (enlarged thyroid),
- impotence
- prickly feeling,
- unusual behavior,
- suicidal thoughts,
- strange dreams,
- trouble speaking or moving (may occur months or years after beginning the medicine),
- difficulties with your balance or muscle movement,
- feeling sad or hopeless,
