Kalbitor (ecallantide injection)

Kalbitor (ecallantide) Injection is a human plasma kallikrein inhibitor used to treat attacks of hereditary angioedema (an immune system disorder) in people who are at least 16 years old. Kalbitor is not a cure for hereditary angioedema.

The drug is often used to treat Angioedema .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• itching,
• rash,
• chest pain or tightness,
• wheezing,
• cough,
• lightheadedness
• runny or stuffy nose,
• sneezing,
• hoarse voice,
• dizziness, and
• flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling),
• tight feeling in your throat,
• fast or weak heartbeat,
• throat irritation,
• swelling or redness in your face,

The following drugs are related to Kalbitor, either as a replacement or used together:

• Berinert ([c1 esterase inhibitor (human)] freeze-dried powder)
• Orladeyo (berotralstat capsules)
• Cinryze (c1 esterase inhibitor [human] freeze dried powder)
• Ruconest (c1 esterase inhibitor [recombinant] intravenous injection)
• Firazyr (icatibant injection for subcutaneous administration)
• Sajazir (icatibant injection, for subcutaneous use)
• Takhzyro (lanadelumab-flyo injection)
