Loryna (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol tablets)

Loryna (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol tablets) is an estrogen/progestin combined oral contraceptive (COC), indicated for use by women to prevent pregnancy, to treat symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) for women who choose to use an oral contraceptive for contraception, and to treat moderate acne for women at least 14 years old only if the patient desires an oral contraceptive for birth control. Loryna is available as a generic.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • dark urine,
  • confusion,
  • fainting,
  • muscle weakness,
  • mood changes,
  • severe stomach pain,
  • slurred speech,
  • unusual sweating,
  • weakness on one side of the body,
  • severe dizziness
  • coughing up blood,
  • sudden dizziness,
  • new or worsening depression,
  • slow or irregular heartbeat,
  • lack of coordination,
  • sudden vision changes,
  • sudden shortness of breath,
  • lumps in the breast,
  • worsening of migraines,
  • partial or complete blindness,
  • yellowing of the eyes or skin,
  • continuous spotting,
  • sudden heavy bleeding,
  • missed periods,
  • chest, jar, or left arm pain,
  • pain, swelling, or warmth in the groin or calf,
  • tingling or weakness,
  • numbness in the arms or legs,
  • unusual headaches with vision changes,
  • sudden or very severe headaches,
  • thoughts of self-harm, and
