Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol)

Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is an oral contraceptive used for preventing pregnancy, treating premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and treating moderate acne in females at least 14 years of age. A generic version of Yaz is available.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• upper stomach pain,
• loss of appetite,
• dark urine,
• clay-colored stools,
• yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
• vision problems,
• pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
• blurred vision,
• pounding in your neck or ears,
• sweating,
• weakness,
• chest pain or pressure,
• sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
• slurred speech,
• coughing up blood,
• tiredness
• sudden vision loss,
• problems with your balance,
• feeling tired, and
• mood changes
• sudden severe headache,
• stabbing chest pain,
• pain or warmth in one or both legs,
• change in the pattern or severity of migraine headaches,
• sleep problems,
• short of breath,
• swellings in your hands, ankles, or feet,
