Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol)

Yasmin (ethinyl estradiol/drospirenone) is a combination of two female hormones prescribed as a 28-day oral contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. Yasmin works by inhibiting the release of an egg during the menstrual cycle.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• upper stomach pain,
• loss of appetite,
• dark urine,
• shortness of breath,
• tiredness,
• clay-colored stools,
• pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
• blurred vision,
• pounding in your neck or ears,
• sweating,
• weakness,
• chest pain or pressure,
• sudden numbness or weakness,
• slurred speech,
• coughing up blood,
• sudden vision loss,
• mood changes
• stabbing chest pain,
• pain or warmth in one or both legs,
• change in the pattern or severity of migraine headaches,
• sleep problems,
• sudden severe headaches,
• swelling in your hands, ankles or feet,
• tired feeling, and
• problems with your vision,
• difficulty with your balance,
• yellowing of the skin or your eyes (jaundice),
