Dopram (doxapram hydrochloride) Injection is a respiratory stimulant used to treat respiratory insufficiency due to drug overdose, surgery, or chronic pulmonary disease. Dopram is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • shortness of breath,
  • chest pain,
  • nausea,
  • headache,
  • sweating,
  • hyperventilation,
  • dizziness,
  • apprehension,
  • vomiting,
  • diarrhea,
  • cough,
  • itching,
  • numbness and tingling,
  • fever,
  • muscle spasms,
  • difficulty breathing, 
  • flushing,
  • hyperactivity,
  • high blood pressure (hypertension),
  • difficulty urinating,
  • flushing (feeling of warmth),
  • burning or hot sensation,
  • disorientation,
  • dilated pupils,
  • involuntary movements,
  • hiccups,
  • heart rate variations,
  • irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias),
  • tightness in the chest, and
  • feeling the need to defecate.
