Dilantin (phenytoin)

Dilantin (phenytoin) is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant, used to control seizures. Dilantin is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • upper stomach pain,
  • loss of appetite,
  • dark urine,
  • clay-colored stools, and
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • fever,
  • swollen glands,
  • easy bruising,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • chills,
  • chest pain,
  • dizziness,
  • fluttering in your chest,
  • sore throat,
  • mouth sores,
  • red or swollen gums,
  • purple or red spots under your skin,
  • slow or uneven heartbeats,
  • any skin rash,
