Digibind (digoxin immune fab)

Digibind (digoxin immune fab) contains antigen binding fragments and is used as an antidote to treat a life-threatening overdose of digoxin or digitoxin. Digibind is not for treating a mild digitalis overdose. Digibind may be available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• fever,
• increased urination,
• muscle weakness,
• muscle weakness, or
• limp feeling,
• leg discomfort,
• high potassium (slow heart rate, weak pulse,
• tingly feeling),
• low potassium,
• thirst,
• feeling short of breath even with mild exertion,
• swelling, or
• rapid weight gain

The following drugs are related to Digibind, either as a replacement or used together:

• BiDil (isosorbide dinitrate and hydralazine hcl)
• DigiFab (ovine lyophilized powder for intravenous injection)
