Diastat Acudial (diazepam rectal gel)

Diastat Acudial (diazepam) Rectal Gel is a benzodiazepine used for rectal administration in the management of selected, refractory, patients with epilepsy, on stable regimens of AEDs, who require intermittent use of diazepam to control bouts of increased seizure activity.

The drug is often used to treat Epilepsy .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• lightheadedness,
• confusion,
• agitation,
• hostility,
• hallucinations,
• unusual thoughts or behavior,
• worsening seizures,
• new or different seizures,
• pale,
• discolored skin,
• unusual risk-taking behavior,
• decreased inhibitions,
• no fear of danger,
• hyperactivity,
• depressed mood, and
• thoughts of suicide
