Igalmi (dexmedetomidine sublingual film)

Igalmi (dexmedetomidine) is an alpha2-adrenergic receptor agonist indicated in adults for the acute treatment of agitation associated with schizophrenia or bipolar I or II disorder.

The drug is often used to treat Schizophrenia .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• shortness of breath,
• headache,
• lightheadedness,
• dizziness,
• blurred vision,
• diarrhea,
• cough,
• constipation,
• nervousness,
• weight loss,
• stomach pain,
• hives, 
• difficulty breathing, 
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, 
• confusion, 
• anxiety,
• muscle weakness, 
• agitation,
• signs of waking up, 
• change in level of consciousness, 
• slow heartbeats, 
• weak or shallow breathing, 
• pale or blue-colored skin, 
• excessive sweating, 
• pounding in the neck or ears, 
• severe chest pain, 
• rapid or irregular heartbeats, and
• unusual craving for salt
