Pimtrea (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets)

Pimtrea (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets, and ethinyl estradiol tablets) is an oral contraceptive indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women who elect to use this product as a method of contraception. Pimtrea is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • vomiting,
  • nausea,
  • abdominal cramps,
  • bloating,
  • breast tenderness or enlargement,
  • vaginal yeast infection,
  • swelling,
  • breakthrough bleeding,
  • spotting,
  • temporary infertility after discontinuation of treatment,
  • changes in vaginal discharge,
  • migraine,
  • changes in menstrual flow,
  • rash (allergic),
  • weight gain or loss,
  • reduced tolerance to carbohydrates, 
  • reduced lactation when given immediately postpartum,
  • yellowing skin and eyes (jaundice),
  •  missed menstrual periods,
  •  depression,
  • freckles or dark skin patches,
  • intolerance to contact lenses,
  • or nipple discharge.

  • Targretin (bexarotene)
  • Tracleer (bosentan)
  • Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone)
  • Ifex (ifosfamide)
  • Mirena (levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system)
