Kalliga (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets)

Kalliga (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets 0.15 mg/0.03 mg) is an oral contraceptive regimen indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women who elect to use oral contraceptives as a method of contraception. Kalliga is available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- depression,
- missed menstrual periods,
- vaginal yeast infection,
- swelling (edema),
- nipple discharge,
- breast tenderness or enlargement,
- breakthrough bleeding,
- abdominal cramps and bloating,
- spotting,
- change in menstrual flow,
- temporary infertility after discontinuation of treatment,
- patchy brown skin discoloration on the face which may persist,
- weight gain or loss,
- changes in vaginal discharge,
- reduced lactation when given postpartum,
- cholestatic jaundice,
- migraine,
- allergic reaction (including rash, hives, and skin swelling),
- vision problems, and
- intolerance to contact lenses.
