Kariva (desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol and ethinyl estradiol) Tablets are a combination of female hormones used as contraception to prevent pregnancy. Kariva is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • upper stomach pain,
  • loss of appetite,
  • dark urine,
  • fever,
  • shortness of breath,
  • tiredness,
  • clay-colored stools,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
  • severe headache,
  • blurred vision,
  • sweating,
  • weakness,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
  • slurred speech,
  • problems with vision or balance,
  • coughing up blood,
  • sudden vision loss,
  • mood changes
  • sudden severe headache,
  • stabbing chest pain,
  • tiredness, and
  • pain or warmth in one or both legs,
  • swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet,
  • sleep problems,
  • breast lump,
  • pounding in your ears,
  • changes in the pattern or severity of migraine headaches,
