DepoDur (morphine sulfate) extended-release liposome injection is a long-acting narcotic pain reliever (opiate-type) used to treat pain after major surgery. The brand name DepoDur is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• nausea,
• loss of appetite,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea,
• fever,
• lightheadedness,
• chest pain,
• breathing that stops,
• agitation,
• slow heart rate,
• hallucinations,
• fast or pounding heartbeats,
• twitching,
• fast heart rate,
• weak or shallow breathing,
• loss of coordination,
• blue colored lips,
• extreme drowsiness,
• muscle stiffness,
• slow breathing with long pauses,
• sighing,
• dizziness, and
• hard to wake up,
• worsening tiredness or weakness
