Emflaza (deflazacort oral suspension)

Emflaza (deflazacort) tablets or oral suspension is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in patients 5 years of age and older.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • fever,
  • chills,
  • tiredness,
  • cough,
  • sore throat,
  • little or no urination,
  • increased urination,
  • mood changes,
  • swelling of ankles or feet,
  • eye pain,
  • trouble sleeping, and
  • increased appetite,
  • excess thirst,
  • blurry vision,
  • slowed growth in children,
  • skeletal weakness (if used for an extended time)
The following drugs are related to Emflaza, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Amondys 45 (casimersen injection)
  • Millipred (prednisolone tablets)
