Exjade (deferasirox)

type of Chelators

Exjade (deferasirox) is an iron-chelating agent, which binds to iron and removes it from the blood stream, used to treat iron overload caused by blood transfusions in adults and children at least 2 years old.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• nausea,
• upper stomach pain,
• loss of appetite,
• itching,
• dark urine,
• fever,
• easy bruising,
• unusual bleeding,
• pale skin,
• lightheadedness,
• shortness of breath,
• cold hands and feet,
• chills,
• tiredness,
• clay-colored stools,
• yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
• sore throat,
• skin pain,
• little or no urination,
• mouth sores,
• swelling in your feet or ankles,
• bloody or tarry stools,
• skin sores,
• burning in your eyes,
• red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling,
• coughing up blood, and
• vomit that looks like coffee grounds
• problems with vision or hearing,

• Clovique (trientine hydrochloride capsules)
• Jadenu (deferasirox tablets)
• Desferal (deferoxamine)
• Reblozyl (luspatercept-aamt for injection)
