Cyproheptadine (cyproheptadine hydrochloride) is an antihistamine used to treat sneezing, itching, watery eyes, runny nose, and other symptoms of allergies. Cyproheptadine is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• dizziness,
• blurred vision,
• diarrhea,
• sleep problems (insomnia),
• constipation,
• upset stomach,
• drowsiness,
• weight gain,
• numbness or tingly feeling,
• loss of coordination, 
• spinning sensation,
• tired feeling,
• appetite changes,
• restlessness or excitability (especially in children),
• increased sweating or urination,
• thickening of mucus in the nose/throat, or
• dry mouth/throat/nose.
