Cyklokapron (tranexamic acid)
type of Antifibrinolytic Agents
Cyklokapron (tranexamic acid) is a man-made form of an amino acid (protein) called lysine used to prevent bleeding in people with hemophilia who need to have a tooth pulled. Cyklokapron is usually given just before the dental procedure, and daily for up to 8 days afterward. Cyklokapron is also used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding. Cyklokapron is available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- lightheadedness,
- rapid breathing,
- chest pain,
- seizure,
- severe headache,
- wheezing,
- sudden cough,
- slurred speech,
- coughing up blood, and
- blood in your urine,
- painful or difficulty urination,
- balance problems,
- sudden numbness or weakness (especially on side of the body),
- swelling, warmth, or redness in an arm or leg
- problems with your vision (including color vision),
