Cuprimine (penicillamine)

Cuprimine (penicillamine) is a chelating agent that helps remove copper from the body used to remove excess copper associated with Wilson's disease. Cuprimine is also used to reduce cystine in the urine and to treat severe rheumatoid arthritis.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• loss of appetite,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea,
• ringing in the ears,
• sores in the mouth,
• stomach/abdominal pain,
• decreased sense of taste,
• itching or rash,
• poor wound healing, or
• increased wrinkling of the skin

• Clovique (trientine hydrochloride capsules)
• Neoral (cyclosporine)
• Kevzara (sarilumab injection, for subcutaneous use)
• Thiola (topronin delayed-release tablets)
