Cortrosyn (cosyntropin)

Cortrosyn (cosyntropin) for Injection is a man-made portion of a certain natural substance made by the body (ACTH) used to diagnose adrenal gland problems (e.g., Addison's disease, insufficiency due to corticosteroid use, pituitary tumor). Cortrosyn is available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- itching,
- dizziness,
- headache,
- fainting,
- vision changes,
- red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever,
- tightness in the chest or throat,
- difficulty swallowing or talking,
- unusual hoarseness,
- wheeze,
- fast or slow heartbeats, and
- swelling in the arms or legs
