Comtan (entacapone)
type of Antiparkinson Agents, COMT Inhibitors
Comtan (entacapone) is a COMT inhibitor used together with carbidopa and levodopa to treat "wearing-off" symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, and poor muscle control.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- fever,
- lightheadedness,
- confusion,
- sweating,
- weakness,
- agitation,
- unexplained muscle pain,
- very stiff (rigid) muscles,
- high fever,
- fast or uneven heartbeats,
- worsening of Parkinson symptoms,
- unusual thoughts or behavior,
- tremors,
- hallucination,
- tenderness,
- severe or ongoing diarrhea,
- restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck,
- unusual tiredness, and
- dark-colored urine
