CoLyte (polyethylene glycol and electrolytes solution)

type of Laxatives, Osmotic

Colyte (peg-3350 & electrolytes) for Oral Solution is a colon lavage preparation indicated for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy or barium enema X-ray examination.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • gas,
  • nausea, or
  • bloating,
  • stomach pain or cramps, 
  • feelings of fullness in the stomach/abdomen,
  • no bowel movement within two hours after use,
  • rectal pain or irritation,
  • gagging.
The following drugs are related to CoLyte, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Dulcolax (bisacodyl suppositories)
  • GaviLyte-C (polyethylene glycol and electrolytes solution)
  • GaviLyte-G (polyethylene glycol & electrolytes)
  • GaviLyte-H Tablets and Oral Solution (peg-3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride)
  • GaviLyte-N (peg-3350 and electrolytes)
  • GoLytely (polyethylene glycol 3350 and electrolytes oral solution)
  • NuLytely (polyethylene glycol 3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution)
  • OsmoPrep (sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate and sodium phosphate dibasic anhydrous)
  • Suflave (polyethylene glycol 3350, sodium sulfate, potassium chloride, magnesium sulfate, and sodium chloride)
  • Sutab (sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, and potassium chloride tablets)
