Santyl (collagenase) is an enzyme used to help the healing of burns, skin wounds, and skin ulcers. Santyl is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• pain or a burning feeling at the affected area, or
• temporary redness or irritation in the skin around the affected area.
  

The following drugs are related to Santyl, either as a replacement or used together:

• Astero (lidocaine hydrochloride hydrogel + topical anesthetic)
• Avagard Foam (avagard foam instant hand antiseptic with moisturizers)
• Avagard Lotion (avagard lotion instant hand antiseptic with moisturizers)
