Codeine sulfate is an opioid analgesic (pain reliever) drug used to treat mild to moderate pain. Codeine sulfate is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • loss of appetite,
  • vomiting,
  • fever,
  • lightheadedness,
  • confusion,
  • dizziness,
  • diarrhea
  • sweating,
  • noisy breathing,
  • agitation,
  • slow heart rate,
  • shallow breathing,
  • hallucinations,
  • twitching,
  • unusual thoughts or behavior,
  • fast heart rate,
  • muscle stiffness,
  • loss of coordination, and
  • sighing,
  • breathing that stops during sleep,
  • weak pulse,
  • worsening tiredness or weakness,
  • feeling extreme happiness or sadness,
  • convulsions (seizure),
  • problems with urination,
