Cleocin (clindamycin)

Clindam (clindamycin) is an antibiotic used to treat serious infections caused by bacteria. Clindamycin is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• nausea,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea,
• stomach pain,
• joint pain,
• low blood pressure (hypotension),
• heartburn,
• hypersensitivity,
• fungal overgrowth,
• pseudomembranous colitis,
• Stevens-Johnson syndrome,
• blood clot,
• granulocytopenia,
• low white blood cell count (neutropenia),
• low platelet count (thrombocytopenia),
• polyarthritis,
• kidney dysfunction,
• vaginal itching or discharge,
• skin rash or itching,
• sore throat, or
• changes in bowel habits (especially in older adults).

• Tylenol (acetaminophen)
• Robitussin Ac (guaifenesin and codeine)
• Medrol (methylprednisolone)
