Thorazine (chlorpromazine)
type of Antipsychotics, Phenothiazine
Thorazine (chlorpromazine) is a phenothiazine anti-psychotic medication used to treat psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia or manic-depression, and severe behavioral problems in children. Thorazine is also used to treat nausea and vomiting, anxiety before surgery, chronic hiccups, acute intermittent porphyria, and symptoms of tetanus. The brand name Thorazine is discontinued in the U.S. Generic forms may be available.
The drug is often used to treat Schizophrenia .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- fever,
- lightheadedness,
- confusion,
- chills,
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
- sweating,
- weakness,
- cough,
- agitation,
- sore throat,
- mouth sores,
- very stiff (rigid) muscles,
- high fever,
- skin sores,
- tremors
- feeling jittery,
- trouble sleeping
- convulsions (seizure),
- tightness in your throat,
- fast or uneven heartbeats, and
- breast swelling or discharge,
- trouble breathing or swallowing,
- stiffness in your neck,
- uncontrolled muscle movements in your face,
