Chloromycetin (chloramphenicol ophthalmic ointment) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for the treatment of surface ocular infections involving the conjunctiva and/or cornea caused by chloramphenicol-susceptible organisms. The brand name Chloromycetin is discontinued in the U.S., but generic versions may be available.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- burning or stinging,
- allergic reactions, or
- inflammation
