Chemet (succimer)

Chemet (succimer) is a chelating (binding) agent that binds to lead in the blood and allows it to be passed out in the urine used in the treatment of lead poisoning.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- rash,
- fever,
- cough,
- skin sores,
- swollen gums,
- cold or flu symptoms,
- painful mouth sores, and
- pain when swallowing
The following drugs are related to Chemet, either as a replacement or used together:
- Clovique (trientine hydrochloride capsules)
- Nithiodote (sodium nitrite injection for intravenous infusion)
