Cervarix (human papillomavirus bivalent vaccine)

Cervarix [Human Papillomavirus Bivalent (Types 16 and 18) Vaccine, Recombinant] Suspension for Intramuscular Injection is a vaccine is used to prevent cervical cancer caused by certain types of HPV (types 16 and 18) in girls and young women ages 10 through 25.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea,
• cough
• headache,
• pain,
• runny or stuffy nose,
• sore throat, or
• swelling, or
• redness where the shot was given;
• tired feeling;
• joint or muscle pain;
• stomach pain;
• menstrual pain;

The following drugs are related to Cervarix, either as a replacement or used together:

• Aldara (imiquimod)
• Carac (fluorouracil)
• Condylox Gel (podofilox gel)
• Efudex (fluorouracil)
• Fluoroplex (fluorouracil topical cream)
• Gardasil (quadrivalent human papillomavirus (types 6, 11, 16, 18) recombinant vaccine)
