Lacrisert (hydroxypropyl cellulose ophthalmic)

Lacrisert (hydroxypropyl cellulose ophthalmic insert) is an ophthalmic insert used to treat dry eyes. Lacrisert is usually used when an artificial tears solution is not successful. Lacrisert may also be used to treat certain other eye disorders (keratitis, decreased corneal sensitivity).

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • rash, and
  • vision changes,
  • eye pain,
  • severe dizziness
  • persistent eye redness or irritation,
  • swelling in or around the eyes,
The following drugs are related to Lacrisert, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Cequa (cyclosporine ophthalmic solution)
  • Restasis MultiDose (cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion)
  • Vevye (cyclosporine ophthalmic solution)
  • Tyrvaya (varenicline solution nasal spray)
