Mefoxin (cefoxitin)

Mefoxin (cefoxitin) is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms. The brand name Mefoxin is discontinued in the U.S. Generic forms may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• vomiting,
• skin rash,
• loss of appetite,
• stomach pain,
• vaginal itching or discharge,
• diarrhea, or
• headache.
• injection site reactions (swelling, redness, pain, or soreness),
