Claforan (cefotaxime)

Claforan (cefotaxime sodium) injection is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms. Claforan is also used to prevent infections in people having surgery. Claforan is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• fever,
• skin rash,
• numbness,
• seizure,
• sore throat,
• muscle weakness,
• severe stomach pain,
• pain,
• diarrhea that is watery or bloody,
• burning in your eyes, and
• bruising,
• severe tingling,
